Job summary

Petco Animal Supplies, Inc. is seeking a Veterinarian for its Vetco Total Care full-service hospital. You will provide comprehensive medical care, lead treatment plans, and collaborate with a compassionate team to deliver high-quality patient and client service.

The role requires a DVM from an AVMA-accredited school, active license, DEA and state licenses, and strong communication skills. The hospital emphasizes teamwork, ongoing learning, and patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from AVMA-accredited school.
• Active veterinary license in the state of employment.
• Current DEA license.
• Current Controlled Substances license, if applicable.
• USDA Category I Accreditation or completion within two months of hire.
• Must be comfortable performing anesthesia and routine surgeries.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be a team player willing to learn new techniques and treatments.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent patient care by performing physical examinations, diagnosing and treating diseases, and providing preventive care according to patient signalment, lifestyle, and environment.
• Utilize a problem-based approach that includes developing a complete problem list, differential diagnoses, diagnostic plan, and appropriate treatments.
• Document all patient observations, findings, and treatments in the medical record concisely and in detail.
• Perform routine and complex surgical procedures including spays/neuters, abdominal exploratory, and mass removals.
• Perform routine and complex dental procedures including full dental examination, evaluation of dental radiographs, and extractions.
• Develop treatment plans for patients undergoing day hospitalization and coordinate with referral hospitals for continuity of care.
• Participate in rounds and disseminate knowledge to staff to improve care and communication.
• Disseminate knowledge throughout staff to improve the level of care and communication provided hospital partners, to both the patient and the client.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
