Waukesha County is seeking a Veterans' Pension Benefits Specialist to assist veterans, survivors, and eligible family members with understanding, preparing, and pursuing pension-related benefits through federal, state, and local programs.

The role involves direct client service, eligibility screening, claims documentation, and ensuring timely benefit submissions in compliance with applicable rules and regulations. A strong background in case coordination and office administration is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Four years of work experience, including duties in case coordination, office management, or administration of entitlement or benefit programs.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or social sciences may substitute for the work experience requirement.
  • Obtain applicable state and federal certifications and accreditations within twelve (12) months of hire.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Salary Range $24.92 - $34.63

The Veteran’s Pension Benefits Specialist (Veterans' Services Specialist) is responsible for assisting veterans, surviving spouses, dependents, and eligible family members with understanding, preparing, and pursuing pension-related benefits through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and related state or local benefit programs. This position provides direct client service, conducts eligibility screening, develops claims documentation, and supports accurate, timely benefit submissions in accordance with federal, state, and county requirements.

Minimum Training & Experience Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Four (4) years of work experience, two (2) years of which included duties in case coordination, office management, or administration of entitlement or benefit programs.
  • A bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university with major courses in business administration or social sciences, may be substituted for the work experience requirement.
  • Obtain applicable state and federal certifications and accreditations within twelve (12) months of hire.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
