Job summary

The Veterans Benefits Administration in Des Moines, IA seeks an assistant supervisor to support daily supervision of one of the teams within the Veterans Service Center.

The incumbent covers duties of the coach in absence, ensures continuity of supervision, and assists with processing claims and improving customer service. This position requires meeting qualification standards and time-in-grade requirements; SF-50 documentation must be submitted.

Qualifications

• One year of specialized experience at the GS-11 level in claims processing and benefit determinations.
• Experience in quality assurance or auditor functions related to benefits and claims.
• Adjudicating and authorizing compensation, pension, and claims; reconsideration of appeals.
• Volunteer experience in National Service programs may count toward qualifications.
• Full-time is at least 35 hours/week; part-time pro-rated.
• Mental exertion predominates; physical requirements are minimal.
• SF-50 documenting time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted.

Responsibilities

• Assume duties of supervisor in absence and maintain team supervision.
• Coordinate with Veterans Service Center teams to ensure continuity of service.
