Job summary

EGA Associates is seeking a qualified Phlebotomist to support laboratory and point-of-care services at a Primary Care Community Based Outpatient Clinic serving Veterans in Pottsville and Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. The position emphasizes safe specimen collection, clinic workflow, and patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Education, training, and documented competency in phlebotomy and specimen collection.
• Knowledge of aseptic technique, infection control, bloodborne-pathogen precautions, patient identification, specimen integrity, and confidentiality.
• Ability to complete VA and EGA background screening, annual competencies, privacy, security, EHR, and onboarding requirements.
• Current Basic Life Support certification or ability to obtain certification when required for assigned patient-care duties.
• Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary, team-based outpatient environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to use electronic health records and standard computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary collection per training and procedures.
• Identify patients and explain specimen-collection procedures.
• Label, handle, and route specimens maintaining integrity and timing.
• Support PT/INR testing and point-of-care testing when trained.
• Maintain documentation and ensure quality and safety.
