Job summary

Clear Creek County seeks a Veterans Service Officer to assist veterans and their families with benefits and claims. The role supports coordination with Gilpin County and reports to the Board of County Commissioners.

The position includes managing VA-related records, conducting outreach, and maintaining confidentiality while delivering high-quality service toColoradan veterans and dependents.

Qualifications

• Must reside in Colorado and have served in the U.S. military with honorable discharge.
• One year of general office experience or equivalent (GED/HS).
• Knowledge of federal and state veteran benefits laws and programs.
• Ability to interview veterans and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance on veteran benefits following VA/Colorado guidelines.
• Maintain files and forms for filing claims with VA/state agencies.
• Assist claimants with proper forms and supporting documentation.
• Prepare monthly activity reports for state and county offices.
• Attend annual training conferences to stay updated on benefits.
• Conduct outreach and enroll veterans into VA Health Care.
• Encourage veterans to file discharge papers with the County Clerk.
• Prepare and administer the budget for the Veteran's Service Office.
• Participate in speaking engagements and other duties as assigned.
