Job summary

Clear Creek County seeks a Veterans Service Officer to advise veterans and families on benefits, manage VA claim processes, and coordinate county outreach. The role reports to the County Commissioners and collaborates with other veteran organizations.

Responsibilities include maintaining VA claim files, preparing documentation, and delivering reports. Requires state residency, U.S. military service, and a high school/GED diploma with office experience.

Qualifications

• Residency in the state and honorable discharge from U.S. armed forces.
• One year of general office experience.
• Knowledge of federal and Colorado veteran benefits laws and processes.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterans and families with benefits rights and claims.
• Maintain electronic files for VA forms and applications.
• Prepare and verify documentation for veteran benefit claims.
• Maintain daily activity reports and monthly reports for state and county offices.
• Attend VA training conferences to stay updated on benefits and policies.
• Coordinate outreach and enroll veterans in VA Health Care.
• Encourage veterans to file discharge papers with the County Clerk and Recorder.
• Prepare and administer the Veteran's Service Office budget.
• Participate in speaking engagements for various functions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
