Job summary

The State of Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs seeks an experienced Manager of Community Advocacy to join the leadership team in Rocky Hill. You will oversee statewide veteran engagement, coordinate with Veteran service organizations, and manage donation funds to support veterans and dependents.

The ideal candidate brings strong knowledge of state and federal laws, program management and budgeting expertise, and the ability to collaborate with public officials and community partners.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of state and federal laws, statutes and regulations.
• Familiarity with agency policies and procedures.
• Understanding of public or urban policy.
• Experience in program evaluation and monitoring.
• Ability to apply management principles and practices.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to develop, implement and evaluate goals and objectives.
• Experience budgeting and managing grants.

Responsibilities

• Direct staff and operations of a program.
• Coordinate, plan and manage unit activities.
• Formulate program goals and objectives.
• Develop or revise policies and standards.
• Interpret and administer pertinent laws.
• Prepare budgets and reports.
• Maintain contacts with leaders to resolve issues.
• Provide oversight to boards in plans and programs.

• May perform related duties including grant management.
