Job summary

U.S.VETS Houston seeks a Veteran Service Assistant to support daily residential operations for veterans. You will assist with shelter, meals, hygiene, and logistics while coordinating with clinical staff to sustain a therapeutic community.

The role requires a high school diploma, strong communication, and teamwork. Responsibilities include incident documentation, bed checks, safety procedures, and assisting with client moves. On-site position with potential driving duties.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with programs, client population, similar populations, or other relevant experience preferred.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with residential staff.
• Promote client-centered philosophy and sober environment.
• Energetic, dedicated to mission and flexible.
• Basic computer literacy; valid driver’s license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in delivery of basic services (shelter, food, hygiene) to veterans.
• Maintains a harmonious atmosphere by communicating with clinical staff and sustaining a therapeutic community.
• Handles client mail and assists with move-in/move-out processes.
• De-escalates verbal/physical altercations and submits incident reports as needed.
• Maintains inventory of supplies and ensures proper storage.
• Supports facility upkeep, safety, and emergency procedures.
• Conducts bed checks and inspections; documents logs and incidents.
• Facilitates daily living activities and assists with weekly cleaning.
