Job summary

U.S.VETS is seeking a dedicated staff member to support veterans at the facility in California. You will help provide shelter, meals, hygiene, and other essential services while maintaining a calm, sober environment and coordinating with clinical staff.

You will handle client needs, assist with move-in/out and meals, document incidents, and contribute to daily living activities. A High School diploma and reliable transportation are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with programs or populations similar to veterans preferred.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Ability to work collaboratively with residential staff and maintain a sober environment.
• Energetic, mission-driven, flexible and reliable; basic computer use required.
• Valid driver’s license preferred; driving company vehicles requires insurance and training.

Responsibilities

• Assists in delivering basic services (shelter, food, hygiene, etc.) to veterans at the facility.
• Maintains a harmonious atmosphere by communicating with clinical staff and fostering a therapeutic environment.
• Assists with client mail handling and move-in/move-out processes.
• Prevents or de-escalates verbal/physical altercations; submits incident reports as needed.
• Addresses client issues promptly to ensure uninterrupted services.
• Conveys needs to maintain supply inventory and proper storage.
• Assists with facility upkeep and readiness for inspections.
• Participates in implementation of toxicology testing to promote sobriety.
• Supports safety and emergency procedures and bed checks.
• Completes administrative duties including documentation of bed checks, inspections, and logs.
• Facilitates daily living activities for clients and adheres to site work order procedures.
• Assists with weekly cleaning of client rooms and common areas; performs other duties as assigned.
