Job summary

U.S.VETS is seeking a Veteran Support Specialist to provide guidance and services to veterans to achieve independence, under supervision of the Veteran Service Coordinator. Duties include coordinating individual and group services, maintaining client files, and supporting daily living skills.

The role requires strong communication, confidentiality under HIPAA, and ability to work with homeless or veteran populations.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required.
  • One year of experience in social services or related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of empowerment and self-advocacy techniques.
  • Experience working with homeless and/or veterans preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Professional manner and appearance.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to use client tracking databases and electronic case records.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes rapport with clients and maintains professional boundaries.
  • Coordinates individual and group services to help veterans achieve life and recovery goals.
  • Maintains confidential client files in accordance with HIPAA and organizational standards.
  • Assists in quality management activities, data collection, and reporting.
  • Attends team meetings and trainings; assists with time sheets and documentation.
  • Transports clients to appointments and accompanies for support as needed.
  • Facilitates or participates in monthly Town Hall meetings.
  • Identifies community resources to meet client needs.
  • Monitors program rent/participant fee compliance to aid housing stability.
