Job summary

Aleutian Pribilof Islands Association, Inc. is seeking a Veteran Peer Support Specialist in Anchorage. The role supports a VA suicide prevention program, helping Veterans and active duty personnel set goals for mental wellbeing and skills practice, drawing on the peer’s lived experience.

The position requires travel to remote locations, collaboration with APIA staff, and ongoing participation in required meetings. Salary range is DOE.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; BS in Human Services preferred.
• Must be a military veteran with lived experience in behavioral health recovery.
• Knowledge of area resources for Veterans strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist program staff and clinicians in a VA suicide prevention program.
• Help Veterans and families articulate goals for mental wellbeing and personal wellness.
• Model coping techniques and self-help strategies based on lived experience.
• Travel to multiple remote locations and coordinate with APIA staff.
