Job summary

Heartland Veterinary Partners is seeking a Veterinary Technician to support veterinarians in patient care, lab work, and surgical procedures. You will assist with outpatient exams, take histories and vitals, and educate clients.

The role includes handling and restraining animals, preparing for surgery, and performing in-house lab tests and radiographs. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential, along with the ability to lift up to 25 pounds and to work weekends as required.

Qualifications

• Weekend work capability is required.
• Previous veterinary experience is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds; assist with heavier lifting with help.
• Follows OSHA safety procedures and PPE guidelines.
• Basic math for dosage calculations and good computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in medicine and surgery as needed.
• Take histories, vital signs, and weights during outpatient exams; educate clients.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vitals during procedures.
• Obtain samples and perform in-house lab tests, prepare for outside labs.
• Take and develop radiographs following safety procedures.
• Handle animals safely and restrain them during exams.
• Administer medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments as directed.
• Maintain clean exam and treatment areas; restock supplies.
• Demonstrate warmth and professionalism with clients; show compassion to patients.
• Communicate with veterinarians and staff; address client concerns.
