Job summary

Heartland Veterinary Partners is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Technician to support veterinarians with exams, diagnostics and surgery in a busy practice. You will monitor hospitalized pets, educate clients, and help maintain inventory and lab work.

The role offers a competitive pay range of $17 to $18 per hour plus a sign-on bonus of $500 and opportunities for professional growth. Weekend availability is required in this position.

Qualifications

• Weekend work required.
• Prior veterinary experience preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds; assist with heavier lifting.
• Practice OSHA safety techniques including PPE.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in medicine and surgery as needed.
• Take histories, vital signs, and weights, and provide client education.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs during surgery.
• Obtain blood, stool and other samples; perform in-hospital laboratory testing.
• Take, develop, and maintain radiographs following safety procedures.
• Provide basic animal handling and restrain animals during exams.
• Administer and monitor medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments as directed.
• Clean and restock exam rooms and labs; maintain equipment.
• Demonstrate warmth and professionalism with clients and patients.
• Communicate with veterinarians and staff about patient plans and concerns.
