Job summary

CityVet externships offer third- and fourth-year DVM students hands-on clinical experience in small animal general practice, with many locations offering urgent care exposure. Externs work alongside experienced veterinary teams and receive mentorship from practicing veterinarians to gain real-world insight into autonomy, collaboration, and long-term career growth.

Externships are two-week blocks, flexible to meet university rotation requirements.

Qualifications

• Eligible for 3rd and 4th-year DVM students at AVMA-accredited veterinary schools.
• Externship blocks are two weeks with flexibility for rotation requirements.
• Housing is not provided, but housing recommendations are available from prior externs.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside veterinary teams to gain hands-on clinical experience in small animal practice.
• Engage in client communication, case management, and collaboration with technicians and staff.
• Receive mentorship from practicing veterinarians and exposure to clinic operations and leadership.
