Job summary

CityVet offers a Veterinarian Externship Program for third- and fourth-year DVM students to gain hands-on clinical experience in a veterinarian-led practice environment. Externs receive mentorship, real-world exposure, and insight into autonomous, collaborative practice models across CityVet clinics.

The program features two-week blocks, flexibility for university rotations, and a competitive stipend paid on the first Friday of each rotation.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled DVM students in their third or fourth year at AVMA-accredited schools.
• Externship blocks last two weeks with flexibility for university rotation requirements.
• Housing not provided; CityVet can share accommodation recommendations from past externs.
• International students eligible if enrolled at AVMA-accredited universities and authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship not available.

Responsibilities

• Externs work alongside experienced veterinary teams providing hands-on exposure.
• Involvement in small animal medicine and surgery in a general practice setting.
• Client communication and case management with the team.
• Collaboration with technicians and support staff to facilitate patient care.
• Exposure to clinic operations and team leadership; mentorship from practicing veterinarians.
