Job summary

Lakefield Veterinary Group in Minnesota is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support Veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians, keeping pets safe and comfortable during visits. You will help prepare exam rooms, obtain medical histories, and assist with procedures.

The role requires strong communication, compassion, and attention to detail. A NAVTA-certified program is preferred, with High School diploma or GED and about one year of pet-care experience.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • NAVTA-approved Veterinary Assistant program preferred.
  • One year of pet care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Foster a culture built on our values: Respect, Learning, Do the Right Thing, WOW Service, and Fun.
  • Clean, disinfect, and prepare exam rooms, medical equipment, and surgery between each appointment.
  • Obtain initial patient information, medical histories, vaccination records, and the reason for visit; update records.
  • Calm, soothe, comfort, and restrain pets before, during, and after procedures.
  • Take note on examination results and update records as directed by veterinarians.
  • Provide owners education and information on pet care and post-procedure instructions.
  • Monitor vital signs following surgery and during hospitalization/boarding as directed.
  • Respond to general questions from clients and support a team-focused environment.
