Lakefield Veterinary Group is seeking a full-time Veterinary Assistant in Andover, MN to support a 9-doctor practice. The role includes assisting veterinarians and technicians, preparing exam rooms, calming and handling procedures, and educating pet owners. Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED; NAVTA-approved program is preferred. One year of pet care experience is desirable.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certificate of completion from a NAVTA-approved Veterinary Assistant program preferred.
• One year of experience in a pet care setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean, disinfect, and prepare exam rooms, medical equipment, and surgery between appointments.
• Obtain initial patient information, medical histories, vaccination records, and visit reason; document and update records.
• Calm and restrain pets before, during, and after procedures.
• Take note of examination results and update records as directed by veterinarians.
• Educate owners on pet care and post-procedure instructions.
• Monitor pets' vital signs during and after procedures and during hospital stays.
• Respond to general questions from clients.
• Perform procedures that do not require Veterinarian or Technician assistance.
