Lakefield Veterinary Group is seeking a full-time Veterinary Assistant for Andover Animal Hospital in Andover, MN. The role supports veterinarians and technicians to ensure safe, high‑quality care for pets and families visiting our practice.

The ideal candidate has a High School Diploma or GED and ideally NAVTA-certified, with one year of pet-care experience. Benefits include PTO, 401K, medical, dental, and vision. Compensation ranges from $19 to $21 per hour.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• NAVTA-approved Veterinary Assistant program preferred, certificate of completion advantageous.
• Experience in a pet care setting preferred (1 year).
• Broad knowledge of animal science and basic pharmacology.

Responsibilities

• Foster a culture built on Respect, Learning, Do the Right Thing, WOW Service, Fun.
• Clean, disinfect, and prepare exam rooms, medical equipment, and surgery areas.
• Gather initial patient information and update medical records.
• Calm and restrain pets before, during, and after procedures.
• Educate owners on pet care and post-visit instructions.
• Monitor vital signs post-surgery and during hospitalization.
• Assist Veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians as needed.
• Maintain clean cages and boarding areas.
• Provide compassionate, efficient care to clients and pets.
