Job summary

TOTE Services seeks an Assistant Port Engineer to support maintenance, repair, and operational readiness of our Marlin-class vessels in Jacksonville. You will work with the Port Engineer to coordinate technical activities aboard ships and in the warehouse.

The role emphasizes hands-on engineering, preventive maintenance, and cross‑department collaboration with vendors and regulatory bodies. A BS in Marine/Mechanical engineering is expected, along with strong organization and teamwork to grow

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in marine engineering or related field.
• Knowledge of vessel maintenance practices and port engineering.
• Familiarity with marine industry regulations and best practices.
• Experience with inventory and maintenance record systems.
• Strong leadership and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and oversee maintenance and repair activities for assigned vessels.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and improve preventive maintenance programs for machinery and vessel systems.
• Troubleshoot technical issues to minimize downtime.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and equipment history.
• Coordinate with internal teams, authorities, shipyards, and vendors.
• Assist in managing budgets for maintenance projects and parts.
• Support procurement with technical input and vendor monitoring.
• Source parts and track orders to ensure timely delivery.
• Attend vessels during port calls to support maintenance and field work.
