Job summary

New Hanover County Schools is seeking substitutes for Virgo Preparatory Academy to maintain a safe, orderly environment and support student learning when the regular teacher is absent. Responsibilities include following lesson plans, supervising students, and reporting on classroom progress.

Qualifications vary by track: non-certified subs need a high school diploma or equivalent; certified subs require a bachelor's in education with a license; long-term subs must hold an active NC teaching

Qualifications

Non-certified subs must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Forty-eight credit hours or college degree preferred; experience with children preferred.
Certified subs must have a bachelor's degree in education with a teaching license.
Long Term subs must have an active North Carolina teaching license in the applicable area.

Responsibilities

To maintain a safe, orderly environment and high level of student learning when the regular teacher is absent.
Follow lesson plans and supervise students to support learning.
References must include your current or most recent supervisor; background check and NHCS training are required after pre-screening.
