Job summary

Greene County Public Schools in Stanardsville, VA is seeking a Maintenance Worker to perform routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repair on school buildings, grounds, mechanical equipment and utility systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in electrical, plumbing, gas appliances, heating, ventilation, air conditioning and carpentry.
• Ability to work independently from oral instructions, rough sketches and engineered drawings.
• Experience operating mowing, snow removal and grounds maintenance equipment.
• Physically able to lift a minimum of 75 pounds.
• Willing to obtain a CDL with a School Bus endorsement within six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Performs minor and major repair of all buildings and equipment under supervision when needed.
• Performs preventive maintenance on building mechanical equipment; inspects belts, checks fluids, replaces filters, greases bearings, seals.
• Cleans and inspects boiler; treats water with proper chemicals.
• Calibrates and repairs pneumatic systems.
• Repairs or replaces windows, doors, locks and closets; installs blinds.
• Maintains records of scheduled maintenance and checkslists.
• Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required.
• Assists with renovation/remodeling of buildings.
• Maintains grounds including snow removal as required.
