Job summary

Greene County Schools is looking for a Custodian to maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students. You will follow instructions, work independently, and perform daily cleaning and basic maintenance tasks across the school facilities.

A High School Diploma or GED is preferred. You must obtain a CDL Class B license with P & S endorsement within 90 days of employment. Duties include HVAC control, snow/ice management, security checks, and minor repairs as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Must be able to follow instructions and work without close supervision.
• Must obtain a CDL license, Class B with P & S endorsement within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Keeps the building and grounds neat and clean at all times.
• Regulates heat/air conditioning to ensure comfortable temps and economical utility use.
• Shovels or treats entrances and walkways during ice and snow events.
• Checks doors and alarms, ensuring security and proper operation.
• Cleans floors daily and as conditions require.
• Cleans/dusts furniture regularly and as needed.
• Scrubs and disinfects bathrooms daily.
• Disinfects drinking fountains twice daily or as directed.
• Washes windows inside and out as needed.
• Maintains property including lawn care and pest control.
• Makes minor repairs and reports major repairs as needed.
• Maintains a regular service schedule for mechanical equipment.
• Reports property damage or vandalism immediately.
• Maintains open/close routines and daily task checklists.
• Keeps inventory and requisitions supplies as needed.
• Moves furniture or equipment as directed by the principal.
• Changes air filters, bulbs, and ballasts as needed.
• Maintains OSHA/MSDS records and safety disposal standards.
• Serves as substitute bus driver as required.
