Job summary

The Huntington is seeking a General Maintenance Technician to perform carpentry, painting, plumbing, and light electrical tasks during a six-month limited-term assignment. You will collaborate with diverse teams to support exhibitions, events, and facility operations while protecting art objects and spaces.

Requirements include two years' experience across carpentry, painting, plumbing or hardware, plus a valid driver’s license and ability to work flexible hours. Competitive benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Must read shop drawings and blueprints.
• Knowledge of paints and surface preparations.
• Proficient with paint rollers, brushes and spray equipment.
• Able to lift heavy objects safely around art objects.
• Two years' experience in carpentry, painting, plumbing or hardware.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance tasks including roofing, plumbing, painting and carpentry.
• Assist with event setup and teardown across indoor and outdoor spaces.
• Move objects and hang paintings under supervision of collections staff.
• Install and repair hardware and equipment; protect surfaces during work.
• Follow safety and access protocols while working around art.
