The Huntington is seeking a General Maintenance Technician to perform a wide range of upkeep tasks, including carpentry, painting, plumbing, light electrical work and event setup. This is a limited-term, full-time role covering six months, requiring a welcoming approach to diverse visitors and staff.

About the Role
Working under regular supervision, the General Maintenance Technician performs a wide range of maintenance tasks, including,but not limited to,carpentry, painting, light plumbing, light electrical work, waterproofing, andassistingwith special event setup and teardown.
S/he/theywilldemonstratea background of working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic,geographicand socioeconomic backgrounds, using a welcoming, inclusive, and accessible approach.
This is a limited-term, full time position to cover a leave of absence for six months.
Essential Duties
Performs general maintenance assignments, including roofing, plumbing, painting,carpentry,drywalling, patching, assembling office furniture, hanging pictures, and banners.
Repairs and constructs items requiring the skill of a carpenter.
Moves objectsand hangs paintings under the direction of collections’ staff.
Installs and repairs hardware and equipment.
Paints interior and exterior surfaces; prepares surfaces to be painted.
Performs stucco and plaster repair.
Uses drop clothes and masking to protect furniture.
Changeslight bulbs and fixtures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Candidate Requirements and Experience
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Must have the ability and aptitude to work with tools and materials of the carpentry trade, read and work from shop drawings and blueprints;
Must havevalid driver’s license;
Must be knowledgeable of various paints and surface preparations;
Must also know the proper uses of rollers, paintbrushesand spray equipment;
Must be able to lift heavy objects, such as furniture,motorsand lumber;
Must be able to work neatly and cautiously around art objects;
Must be willing to work at a variety of trades andassistFacilities staff asrequired;
Must be able to work flexible hours, followordersand work cooperatively with others.
Experience: Must have a minimum of twoyear’s experiencein some orall ofthese trades: Carpentry, painting, plumbing, hardware.
