Job summary

The Huntington is seeking a General Maintenance Technician to perform a wide range of upkeep tasks, including carpentry, painting, plumbing, light electrical work and event setup. This is a limited-term, full-time role covering six months, requiring a welcoming approach to diverse visitors and staff.

Responsibilities include repairs, hanging paintings, installing hardware, and maintaining the campus in indoor and outdoor environments.

Qualifications

• Ability to read shop drawings and blueprints.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Knowledge of paints and surface preparation.
• Know proper uses of rollers, brushes and spray equipment.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and work around art objects.
• Willing to work across several trades and assist facilities staff.
• Two years of experience in carpentry, painting, plumbing or hardware.

Responsibilities

• Performs general maintenance tasks including roofing, plumbing, painting, carpentry, drywalling and furniture assembly.
• Repairs and constructs items requiring carpentry skill.
• Moves objects and hangs paintings under staff direction.
• Installs and repairs hardware and equipment.
• Paints interior and exterior surfaces and prepares surfaces for painting.
• Performs stucco and plaster repair.
• Uses drop cloths and masking to protect furnishings.
• Changes light bulbs and fixtures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
