Job summary

Katy ISD invites applications for TX Certified Substitute - Teacher for 2026-2027. The substitute will act in lieu of the regular classroom teacher and support the Principal/Supervisor with daily instructional duties.

The role requires English fluency, strong classroom management, and reliability; start date is immediate with pay according to the Substitute Salary schedule. Reporting to the Sub Office/Principal and performing as needed across campuses.

Qualifications

• Teaching certification OR
• Bachelor’s degree OR
• Minimum of 60 college hours
• Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Speak, write, read, and comprehend English – Communicate with students, staff and others in English
• Punctuality and dependability
• Flexibility in the job assignment

Responsibilities

• Act in lieu of the regular classroom teacher as assigned by the Principal/Supervisor.
• Complete the duties and tasks of the absent teacher.
• Follow lesson plans and maintain the regular routine of the class.
• Leave a summary of work covered in each class and other information pertinent to the teacher.
• Notify an administrator if additional assistance is needed.
• Maintain classroom behavior to support a conducive learning environment.
• Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines of the campus.
• Report on time and work through the end of stated sub hours.
