Job summary

Katy ISD seeks a Degreed Substitute - Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. Immediate starting date, reports to Sub Office/Principal, and duties as assigned by campus leadership. The role is exempt wage status and follows Substitute Salary pay grade.

Qualifications

Teaching certification OR Bachelor's degree OR minimum of 60 college hours.
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Speak, write, read, and comprehend English.

Responsibilities

Act in lieu of the regular classroom teacher and perform duties as assigned by the Principal/Supervisor.
Complete the duties and tasks of the absent teacher.
Check the class roll at the time and in the manner designated by the campus.
Notify the school office of any serious problems experienced during the day prior to leaving the campus.
Follow the lesson plans provided by the teacher as closely as practical and maintain the regular routine of the class.
Leave a summary of work covered in each class and other information pertinent to the teacher.
