Job summary

Southend Pharmacy is a modern, on-site, Texas-based compounding pharmacy seeking a Verification Pharmacist to ensure clinical accuracy and regulatory compliance of compounded medications before dispensing.

You will collaborate with sterile and non-sterile teams, QA, and leadership to uphold patient safety and high-quality standards in a fast-paced environment. This full-time, on-site role in Houston requires weekend flexibility and strong clinical judgment.

Qualifications

• Pharm.D. or B.S. in Pharmacy from ACPE-accredited school.
• Active, unrestricted TX Pharmacist License in good standing with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP).
• Minimum 4 years licensed pharmacist experience in retail, specialty, compounding, hospital, or high-volume pharmacy environment.
• Strong understanding of pharmacy operations, medication verification, prescription review, and patient safety practices.
• Working knowledge of USP <795>, <797>, <800>, DEA requirements, HIPAA, and TX Board regulations.
• Demonstrated ability to accurately verify prescriptions while maintaining productivity in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform final pharmacist verification of compounded prescriptions prior to dispensing, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Verify prescription orders for clinical appropriateness, dosage accuracy, patient information, drug interactions, formulation integrity, and labeling requirements.
• Review compounded medications to ensure adherence to USP guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure all documentation, Master Formulation Records, batch records, and quality documents are complete and accurate.
• Collaborate with technicians to maintain efficient workflow while upholding quality standards.
• Support verification activities for high-volume operations while maintaining patient safety.
• Identify and resolve prescription discrepancies, formulation questions, and documentation issues.
• Provide clinical guidance and mentorship to technicians on regulatory requirements and quality expectations.
• Maintain compliance with all pharmacy policies, QA initiatives, and inspection readiness.
• Participate in continuous quality improvement, workflow optimization, and operational excellence projects.
• Monitor medication inventory and minimize waste while ensuring availability.
• Maintain PHI confidentiality per HIPAA.
