Job summary

States Industries Llc is seeking a press operator to load/unload the press, set cycle times, and trim veneers according to layup lists. You will perform quality checks, track glue tack time, and communicate defects to spreader crews while maintaining a clean, safe work area.

You will also inspect press plates hourly, use a micrometer to verify thickness, and document results. Training in lockout/tagout and forklift operation is required, with adherence to Kaizen and 5S principles on the line.

Qualifications

• Good hand/eye coordination required.
• Basic computer skills; working knowledge of an MRP system.
• Good communication skills.
• Basic arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
• Ability to read and follow detailed layup lists and instructions.
• Must be trained in lockout/tagout procedures.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload press.
• Calculate loads and communicate to spreader crews.
• Set pressure and heat cycle times.
• Trim veneer from the infeed side of press.
• Record glue tack time and perform quality checks.
• Inspect and maintain press plates hourly and document results.
• Keep area around press and spreaders clean.
• Breakdown loads for the spreader as needed.
• Support team to achieve hour goals and reduce waste.
• Operate micrometer to measure thickness and document results.
• Communicate with glue mixer about glue and tack levels.
• Follow safety protocols and participate in Kaizen/5S events.
• Drive forklift during breaks and wear fall protection when on the press.
