Mobile Civil Service seeks a skilled Vehicular Equipment Mechanic I to perform maintenance and repair on automotive and other municipal equipment across fleets.
Requires high school diploma or GED, completion of an apprenticeship or trade school in automotive or diesel repair, and at least one year journeyman experience. A valid driver’s license and CDL with air brake endorsements may be required after six months.
This is skilled work in the maintenance and repair of a variety of vehicular equipment.

Graduation from a standard senior high school, or the successful completion of the General Educational Development (GED) test. And completion of an apprenticeship or trade school program in automotive or diesel repair, and a minimum of one year journeyman level experience in maintenance and repair in one of the following areas: (1) automotive/light truck/miscellaneous; (2) medium/heavy truck or (3) construction equipment; or a combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements.
Must possess a valid driver's license from state of residence. May be required to work overtime. The Mobile Area Water & Sewer System requires Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements, including air brake endorsement, be obtained prior to completion of the six month working test period.
