Job summary

The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) is hiring a Vehicle Service and Recovery Technician to support traffic operations across the State Highway System. You will manage incident scenes, operate tow and recovery equipment, and assist with information systems as part of SOC/TOCs.

This field role requires working outdoors and rotating shifts, including evenings and weekends. New hires enter a 12-month probation; positions are located in Baltimore and Cecil counties.

Qualifications

• Fieldwork and outdoor work in highway environments.
• Rotating shifts including evenings, nights, and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Operate medium/heavy duty tow trucks to remove disabled/accident vehicles from tunnels, bridges, and roadways.
• Assist in cleaning up hazardous material spills.
• Extinguish basic fires using fire extinguishers.
• Perform daily vehicle inspections and maintenance.
• Complete recovery-related documentation accurately and neatly.
• Interact with customers at MDTA facilities professionally.
• Provide mechanical repairs on disabled/accident-related vehicles.
