The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) seeks skilled maintenance technicians for advanced repair and routine maintenance of motor vehicles, diesel engines, and heavy equipment. Duties include preventive maintenance, engine analyses, and component inspections, with on‑call 24/7 coverage during hazardous weather or highway conditions.
Employees must be available for on‑call duty, endure outdoor work in all weather, and may be required to pass drug testing.
The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) owns, operates, and maintains eight major toll facilities comprising four bridges, two tunnels, and two turnpikes across the State of Maryland. For over 50 years, MDTA has provided Maryland’s citizens and visitors with safe, secure, and convenient transportation services. This is an advanced level repair and maintenance role for motor vehicles, diesel‑powered equipment, and construction/maintenance equipment. Employees perform routine repair work, standard preventive maintenance, and assist with major automotive repairs. The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Employees in this classification are considered essential and may be required on call 24 hours a day, especially during off‑hours for maintenance during hazardous weather or highway conditions. Physical exertion, outdoor work in all weather, and moving objects that may weigh over 50 pounds are part of the job.
MDTA employees receive a generous benefits package including a minimum of 11 paid holidays, a minimum of 27 days of leave annually (personal, vacation, and sick), access to the State Pension System, deferred compensation plans, and excellent health, dental, and vision plans.
