Job summary

HireArt is hiring a Shift Supervisor in Houston to lead a team of Vehicle Operators and ensure operations meet high safety and quality standards. You’ll supervise daily activities, mentor staff, and collaborate with fleet leadership to drive efficient, safe outcomes across shifts.

The role emphasizes hands-on leadership, clear communication, and a commitment to operational excellence in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Valid in-state driver's license for 3+ years with no gaps.
• Clean driving record with no major violations in 10 years.
• Strong teamwork mindset and ability to collaborate.
• Ability to explain technical concepts in writing and speaking.
• Safety boots meeting ASTM F2412 / F2413 requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Vehicle Operators on a daily basis.
• Ensure safety-first operations and adherence to procedures.
• Provide written and verbal performance feedback to reports.
• Coordinate scheduling and shift validation.
• Develop expertise in vehicle operations software and systems.
• Mentor team members to meet performance and safety goals.
• Serve as a liaison for contractors and assign tasks.
• Support operations in multiple roles, in and out of vehicles.

Expected compensation: 36.00 USD Per Hour

HireArt is helping our client find Shift Supervisors to lead a team of Vehicle Operators (VOs), ensuring they understand and execute both short- and long-term operational goals.

In this role, you’ll be a hands-on leader, working alongside your team daily to ensure all software and hardware tests are executed to high standards. You will collaborate closely with other leaders within fleet operations to safely and efficiently drive day-to-day vehicle fleet operations.

The ideal candidate is a disciplined team player with a strong sense of ownership and a commitment to safety, operational excellence, and team development.

• Tuesday-Saturday: 6:45 AM-3:15 PM
• Sunday-Thursday: 6:45 AM-3:15 PM
• Friday-Tuesday: 6:45 AM-3:15 PM

PM Shifts

• Tuesday-Saturday: 3:45 PM-12:15 AM
• Sunday-Thursday: 3:45 PM-12:15 AM
• Friday-Tuesday: 3:45 PM-12:15 AM

As Shift Supervisor, You'll

• Foster a safety-first, inclusive, and open communication culture.
• Support vehicle operators in daily operations and ensure adherence to procedures and standards.
• Complete administrative tasks related to team coordination, scheduling, and shift validation.
• Provide regular written and verbal performance feedback to direct reports.
• Develop subject matter expertise in proprietary vehicle operations software and systems.
• Motivate, mentor, and guide team members to meet performance and safety expectations.
• Serve as a point of contact for contractors, ensuring clarity of responsibilities and execution of assigned tasks.
• Support operational missions in a variety of roles, both in and out of vehicles.
• Act as a player-coach by working alongside the team and leading by example.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.

Requirements

• Must meet all requirements, including possessing and maintaining a valid in-state U.S. driver’s license for the past 3+ consecutive years with no gaps
• Must have a clean driving record with no disqualifying driving history within the past 10 years, including:
  • DUI or DWI
  • Driving-related license suspension
  • Serious at-fault accident resulting in injury or death
  • Two or more moving violations
• Experience working in a highly collaborative environment with a strong teamwork mindset
• Proven ability to problem-solve and improve operational efficiency
• Proactive, resourceful, and adaptable approach to challenges
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts
• This role will require safety boots that conform to ASTM F2412 / F2413 requirements

Preferred Skills

• 2+ years of experience in autonomous vehicle operations, fleet operations, or similar large-scale operational environments
• Experience as an instructor, team lead, or supervisor within an operations team, or equivalent leadership experience
• Experience leading or managing cross-functional teams
