Job summary

Palisades Tahoe is seeking highly skilled and experienced Vehicle Mechanics to maintain and repair a variety of over-the-snow equipment and vehicles. The role covers diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of snow grooming machines, snowmobiles, lift APUs and generators, and a diverse fleet.

Applicants must be 18+ and able to work in a dynamic mountain environment. Base hourly pay range is $27.34–$43.01 per hour; actual pay varies with experience, location, and travel requirements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience in mechanical repair and maintenance preferred.
• Ability to read and follow instructions, safety procedures, and manuals.

Responsibilities

• Inspect vehicles and equipment for safe and dependable operation.
• Perform preventative maintenance, lubrication and adjustments per manufacturer guidelines.
• Repair, remove and replace parts to keep vehicles operational, in shop or on hill.
• Perform major repairs on gasoline/diesel engines, gearboxes, drives, and transmissions.
• Weld and fabricate using various tools.
• Complete work orders and notify supervisors of needed parts; assist with inventory.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and follow safety procedures.

Job Summary:

We are seeking highly skilled and experienced Vehicle Mechanics to join our mountain operations team. This role would maintain and repair a wide variety of over the snow equipment such as snow grooming machines, snowmobiles, lift APU's and generators, and provide diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of a diverse fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment. This role is crucial for ensuring the safety and operational readiness of all resort vehicles, including but not limited to snowcats, pick up trucks, vehicle electrical systems W/CAN networks, semi-truck/trailer, bus/shuttle bus W/T4F emission systems, heavy equipment/construction equipment W/T4F emission systems, hydraulic/hydrostatic systems in snow cats, snowmobiles W/2 and 4 stroke engines primarily Polaris and Skidoo models and SXS or UTV's primarily Polaris and Can Am models.

The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of the Palisades Tahoe Resort, LLC's hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Palisades Tahoe Resort, LLC's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.
Base hourly pay range: $27.34 - $43.01 per hour

Essential Job Responsibilities/Duties/Tasks

• Inspect vehicles and equipment for safe and dependable operation.
• Perform preventative maintenance, lubrication and adjustments according to manufacturer's guidelines on snow grooming machines, snowmobiles, and other company vehicles.
• Repair, remove and/or replace necessary parts to keep vehicles in operation. Both in shop and out on hill.
• Perform major repairs on all types of gasoline and diesel engines, gearboxes, drives, and transmissions.
• Perform metal repairs/fabrication using all types of welding and cutting tools.
• Complete work orders on all vehicles.
• Notify supervisors of needed replacement parts, assists with inventory updates.
• Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area, follows safety procedures and guidelines.
• Mend damaged body parts
• Assist in metal repairs and fabrication.
• Assist with shop AST, UST and daily tank inspections.
• Follow and adhere to all Hazmat compliance and Spill Prevention Control & Counter measurement Plan (SPCC)

Must be capable of occasionally lifting and pushing or pulling 100 lbs or more, and frequently lifting, pushing or pulling, and carrying up to 40lbs. Must be capable of climbing movements, walking on uneven terrain, and walking on snow and ice, and operating snow vehicles. Must be able to bend, kneel, reach, and crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions:

Indoor/Outdoor: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will occasionally be exposed to extreme weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in precarious places.

Hazardous Materials/Noise: Employee will often be in contact with hazardous substances. They will be occasionally exposed to extreme hot/cold and wet conditions, noise, fumes or airborne particles, and risk of electric shock. The noise level in the work place is usually loud.

Required:

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED
• 3 years relevant vehicle maintenance experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Mechanical experience in Automotive, Truck, Bus, Heavy Equipment, or Fleet diagnostics and repair.
• Knowledge and experience with all typical vehicle repair shop hand tools and equipment.
• Experience with diagnostic tools and computers
• Mechanical and electrical diagnostic and repairs.
• Hydraulic system diagnostics and repairs.
• Ability to read both electrical and hydraulic schematics.
• Welding and fabrication background.
• Understanding of air & hydraulic brake systems.
• Valid Driver's license.
