The Vehicle Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a diverse fleet of mountain operational equipment. This includes snowcats, snowmobiles, buses, plow trucks, sanding trucks, 4x4 pickups, and heavy machinery. A strong understanding of gasoline and diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, and hydrostatic drive systems is essential. The position supports the grooming operations vital to Mission Ridge’s ski product and requires a hands‑on, safety‑conscious, and collaborative individual.
A minimum of two years of on‑the‑job mechanical experience is required. Basic technical training in automotive or heavy equipment repair is strongly preferred. Applicants should have basic computer and office skills or a willingness to learn them.
This position involves frequent use of hands and fingers to handle tools and machine controls. Candidates must be able to lift or move objects weighing 100 pounds or more safely. Good vision—color recognition, peripheral vision, and depth perception—is essential for diagnosing and completing mechanical tasks. The role requires solving practical problems in a hands‑on setting and occasionally working in uncomfortable conditions such as dark, cold, snowy, muddy, hot, dusty, or greasy environments.
Vehicle Mechanics work near moving mechanical equipment and on uneven or slippery surfaces, which may present challenging footing. Exposure to airborne particles, loud noise, outdoor weather conditions, and potentially hazardous chemicals is common. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
