Job summary

Isuzu Technical Center of America in Plymouth, MI seeks a Contract Technician, Vehicle Lab to prepare test vehicles, set up mechanical and electrical tests, and perform diagnosis and repairs under engineering supervision. Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; auto-related coursework or two-year degree.
• Minimum one year automotive technician experience; R&D experience preferred.
• Vehicle testing and evaluation experience.
• ASE Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair vehicle subsystems including suspension, engine, brakes, transmission, steering, HVAC, tires and wheels.
• Assist in design changes and fabricate prototypes; prepare supplies and non-standard parts.
• Operate test equipment for data collection and communicate results.
• Set up mechanical and electrical test fixtures and interpret drawings/schematics.
• Prepare vehicles for testing and shipment; complete data sheets and safety checks.
• Assist in evaluation in failure mode analysis and testing activities.
• Evaluate vehicle performance under various test conditions (hot/cold/high altitude).
• Organize and maintain inventory of parts/tools/test equipment.
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
