Job summary

UL LLC in Plymouth, MI is seeking a hands-on Test Technician to setup and run equipment for automotive testing. The role works on-site with a day shift (8:00 AM–5:00 PM) and involves building or adapting test setups, reading schematics, and communicating with engineers and clients.

You will follow established test plans, record data and reports, perform basic calibration, and contribute to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Higher Secondary Education plus three years related experience preferred.
• Prior automotive testing experience.
• Prior environmental or vibration testing experience.
• Ability to drive a forklift.
• Effective communication skills and ability to interact with customers.
• Desire to work in a team-oriented environment.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office suite is a must.
• Ability to incorporate automation into day-to-day testing.

Responsibilities

• Set up and perform equipment and test setups for clients.
• Builds/adapts setup and test equipment for test performance.
• Examine test samples and read blueprints and wiring diagrams.
• Follow defined test plans and datasheets.
• Evaluate test performance and sample operation.
• Record and explain test results and prepare reports.
• Communicate with customers during setup and operation.
• Operate designated machines and laboratory equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance of test equipment and lab area.
• Initiate recommendations for new equipment designs.
