Job summary

Solano County is seeking an Equipment Service Worker (Extra-Help) to perform maintenance and minor repairs on County vehicles, trucks, and heavy equipment. The role involves shop and field work, including fueling, fluid checks, tire service, and preventative maintenance.

A valid California Driver’s License is required by date of hire. Experience in servicing vehicles and maintaining records is essential. This is an extra-help position with limited hours per fiscal year.

Qualifications

• Two years of full-time paid experience servicing and maintaining vehicles.
• Completion of accredited vocational education in automotive technology may substitute for up to six months of required experience.
• Possess a valid California Driver’s License, Class C, by date of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and minor repairs on County passenger vehicles, trucks and heavy equipment in shop and field.
• Fuel vehicles, check fluids, tires, and perform preventative maintenance (oil, filters, lubrication).
• Inspect braking, steering and suspension systems and report major issues to a mechanic or supervisor.
• Shuttle vehicles to outside repair/cleaning locations and pick up/deliver parts.
• Maintain repair records and assist Equipment Mechanics as needed.
