Job summary

City of Sacramento is seeking an Equipment Serviceworker to inspect vehicles and equipment, perform routine maintenance, and document services, parts used, and issues found during inspections.

The role requires basic knowledge of preventive maintenance, use of shop tools, and strong customer service. You will grease, lubricate, brake repair, and service heavy equipment while maintaining records and ensuring safety procedures.

Qualifications

• One year of work experience in maintenance, servicing, and repair of vehicles and equipment.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; substitution possible with vocational education.
• Must pass pre-employment drug test.

Responsibilities

• Grease and lubricate automobiles, trucks and heavy equipment; service batteries and other parts.
• Perform brake repair and replacement work as required.
• Identify and report major repair and maintenance problems.
• Change and repair tires and install and service batteries, spark plugs, light bulbs, engine drive belts and other mechanical parts.
• Perform preventative maintenance and light repair on City equipment as required.
• Service calls; make temporary repairs; pick up and deliver vehicles to outside garages; pick up parts.
• Maintain records and reports relating to equipment servicing.
• Provide exceptional customer service to those contacted in the course of work.
