Job summary

LER TechForce in Wixom, MI is seeking a Vehicle Wiring Architect to lead the overall vehicle wiring architecture, harness partitioning, grounding strategy, and power distribution. The engineer will work onsite 3-4 days a week and coordinate with DREs, wiring, electrical architecture, controls, mechanical packaging, manufacturing, and suppliers to ensure system compatibility.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and 3-8 years of automotive wiring-harness

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical engineering or related field.
• 3-8 years of automotive electrical or wiring-harness experience.
• Experience with Capital Harness and/or VeSys.
• Strong understanding of vehicle electrical distribution, grounding, and network topology.
• Experience developing full-vehicle wiring architectures across configurations.
• Knowledge of low- and high-voltage systems and protection requirements.

Responsibilities

• Own and develop the vehicle wiring architecture, harness partitioning, and power distribution.
• Define electrical interfaces and network topology across the vehicle.
• Create and maintain electrical diagrams and documentation using Capital Harness.
• Establish harness boundaries, routing, and subsystem interfaces.
• Define wire sizing, voltage drop, fuse protection, shielding, and connector requirements.
• Manage wiring architecture across options and variants.
• Collaborate with DREs, wiring, electrical architecture, controls, packaging, manufacturing, service, and suppliers.
• Optimize wiring for cost, mass, manufacturability, serviceability, and reliability.
• Support DFMEAs, EMC analyses, and system design reviews.
• Lead cross-functional resolution of electrical interface issues.
• Support mule, DV, PV, and production builds including root-cause analysis.
• Maintain configuration control across schematics and documentation.

What you will be doing:

• Own and develop the overall vehicle wiring architecture, including harness partitioning, electrical interfaces, grounding strategy, power distribution, and communication-network topology.
• Define how electrical components and systems are connected across the vehicle.
• Develop and maintain vehicle-level electrical block diagrams, wiring schematics, interface definitions, and architecture documentation using Capital Harness.
• Establish harness boundaries, inline-connector locations, routing strategies, and subsystem interfaces.
• Define circuit requirements, including wire sizing, voltage drop, fuse protection, shielding, grounding, and connector requirements.
• Manage wiring architecture across vehicle options, configurations, and future product variants.
• Work with component DREs, wiring DREs, electrical architecture, controls, mechanical packaging, manufacturing, service, and suppliers to ensure system compatibility.
• Optimize the wiring system for cost, mass, complexity, manufacturability, serviceability, and reliability.
• Support electrical DFMEAs, functional-safety reviews, EMC analysis, and system-level design reviews.
• Lead resolution of cross-functional electrical interface and wiring issues during vehicle development and validation.
• Support Mule, DV, PV, and production builds, including root-cause analysis and implementation of design improvements.
• Maintain configuration control and ensure wiring changes are properly incorporated across schematics, harness designs, vehicle documentation, and released components.

What you'll need to be successful:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• 3-8 years of automotive electrical or wiring-harness engineering experience.
• Experience with Capital Harness software suite.
• Strong understanding of vehicle electrical distribution systems, wiring topology, grounding, circuit protection, and network architecture.
• Experience developing full-vehicle wiring architectures across multiple vehicle configurations.
• Knowledge of low-voltage and high-voltage electrical systems, including separation, shielding, grounding, and interface requirements.
• Experience with electrical schematic and harness-development tools such as Capital, VeSys, or equivalent.
• Understanding of automotive development processes, including Mule, DV, PV, and production launch.
• Working knowledge of automotive wiring standards, connector systems, EMC requirements, and design-for-manufacturing principles.
• Ability to coordinate technical decisions across multiple engineering teams, suppliers, and vehicle programs.
