Job Description:

ECAD Library & PLM Engineer

Location:

Foster City, California (On-site)

Role Overview

This position requires an individual to manage the ECAD library and its integration with the PLM system. The role involves administering the electrical component lifecycle from creation to release, ensuring data integrity and synchronization between engineering systems. The engineer will collaborate with design teams to support hardware development processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own the Altium component library end-to-end, including schematic symbols, PCB footprints, models, and parametric metadata.
  • Administer and evolve the Altium-to-3DEXPERIENCE (3DX) integration, ensuring electrical part masters, revisions, and BOM structures stay synchronized between ECAD and PLM.
  • Manage the electrical part creation and release process, from intake of requests to driving parts through review to release.
  • Configure and maintain 3DX (ENOVIA) workflows, change management, classification schemas, and attribute structures for electrical and electromechanical content.
  • Partner with mechanical engineering on CATIA/3DX interoperability for PCB 3D models, connector geometry, and enclosure fit checks.
  • Drive library data quality initiatives, including duplicate detection, obsolescence flagging, and alternate part management.
  • Support release engineering by verifying manufacturing data packages, fabrication outputs, and BOM accuracy.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers on schematic, BOM, and layout changes, including component placement and trace routing.
Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.

Experience: 6 years of experience in ECAD library management, PLM administration, or electrical design data management in a hardware product environment.

Technical Skills
  • Deep hands-on expertise with Altium Designer, including Altium 365, vaults, managed components, and library management workflows.
  • Production experience administering a PLM system, preferably Dassault 3DEXPERIENCE / ENOVIA, including workflows, change management, and configuration.
  • Working knowledge of CATIA and MCAD-ECAD collaborative design data exchange (IDX/IDF, STEP).
  • Strong grasp of electronics component fundamentals such as packages, datasheet interpretation, and manufacturer part numbering.
  • Demonstrated fluency with IPC standards for footprint and land pattern design.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting automotive, aerospace, or another safety-critical or regulated hardware program.
  • Familiarity with automotive component qualification standards (AEC-Q100/Q200) and functional safety documentation practices.
  • Prior involvement in a PLM implementation, migration, or major version upgrade.
  • Experience supporting PCB layout for 10 layer boards.
