Job summary

Dave Gill Chevrolet in Columbus, OH, is seeking a Vehicle Detailer responsible for preparing new and used vehicles for delivery and showroom display. You will buff, wax, shampoo, apply fabric protection and paint sealant, and ensure all cars meet Dave Gill Chevrolet standards.

Training or skill development will be provided as needed. The ideal candidate has an unrestricted driver's license, a clean driving record, detailing experience, and a strong work ethic.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Unrestricted driver's license with clean driving record.
• Detailing experience preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude required.
• Able to drive both automatic and manual-transmission vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Washes/cleans all vehicles thoroughly including under-hood components, trunks, and interiors.
• Vacuums, shampoos, and applies fabric/leather/carpeting conditioners as needed.
• Waxes, polishes, buffs, and applies exterior paint sealant as needed.
• Air dries around moldings and door handles to prevent water run-off and spotting.
• Applies de-odorizing treatments as required.
• Documents all work activities as required.
• Maintains a clean work area and properly manages supplies.
• Removes trash from the collision center daily.
• Performs other tasks as directed by the Manager, such as snow removal and lot maintenance.

Job Description

The Vehicle Detailer is responsible for new vehicle and pre-owned vehicle preparation in terms of appearance conditioning. He/She cleans new cars and trucks for delivery, used cars and trucks for the retail lot and for delivery, vehicles selected for display in the showroom, and vehicles repaired by the collision center. The Vehicle Detailer also clean vehicles for customers who purchase detail packages from the dealership. In all cases, vehicles must be cleaned to Dave Gill Chevrolet standards. Training or other skills development assistance will be made available as needed. The Detailer's work is a restorative art form that brings the vehicle to a peak aesthetic condition. In addition to base-level conditioning, our Detailers buff, wax, shampoo, and apply fabricprotection and paint sealant.

The ideal Vehicle Detailer candidate will have an unrestricted driver's license, clean driving record, detailing experience, and a strong work ethic. Dave Gill Chevrolet is drug-free workplace; successful applicant must pass a drug test prior to start of employment.

The Vehicle Detailer is typically on duty two Saturdays each month. Work responsibilities during those shifts include portering customers' vehicles in the service drive and cleaning new and pre-owned vehicles for delivery. Saturday hours are 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. The Detailer is expected to wear Dave Gill attire without exception. Uniforms will be providedafter two weeks on duty.

Responsibilities

• Washes/cleans all vehicles thoroughly, which includes under-hood components, trunks and rear compartments, inside gas doors, fender wells, truck beds, tires, wheels, windows, dashes, interior panels, headliners, door jambs and sill plates, cup holders, and under seats
• Vacuums, shampoos, and applies fabric/leather/carpeting conditioners as needed
• Waxes, polishes, buffs, and applies exterior paint sealant as needed
• Air dries around moldings and door handles to prevent water run-off and spotting
• Applies de-odorizing treatments as required
• Documents all work activities as required
• Maintains a clean work area and properly manages clean-up supplies by keeping them orderly and well-marked, which includes washing and folding work towels
• Removes trash from the collision center on a daily basis
• Performs other tasks as directed by the Manager, which may include snow removal, lot maintenance, and portering vehicles to locations off the dealership premises for specialty work
