Job summary

ACV Auctions is seeking an enthusiastic Inspector to join our team. This role focuses on inspecting vehicles at dealerships, auctions, and off-lease locations, identifying damage and mechanical issues, and preparing detailed condition reports with repair estimates.

You will travel to dealerships and homes, capture photos, and list vehicles for sale on our platform, while maintaining strong dealer relationships and delivering top-tier customer service.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in the automobile field with a customer service background.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to work outside in the elements for extended periods.
• Problem-solving aptitude to meet challenges with resourcefulness and innovative approaches.
• Proven success working independently with minimal supervision while in a team environment.
• Excellent communicator with the ability to understand customer needs and expectations.
• Valid driver’s license and insured vehicle required.
• Knowledge of system capabilities, needed/job-relevant software packages, and web-based applications.
• Ability to perform manual labor such as standing for extended periods, lifting 25 lbs or more, bending, and squatting.
• Ability to drive a manual and automatic transmission.
• Vision abilities required to properly identify small defects around and underneath vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
• Partner with a Territory Manager and a team of Inspectors to conduct inspections of vehicles at dealerships, auctions, and off-lease, to detect damage, missing parts, and mechanical problems.
• Prepare and submit a report of vehicle condition, repair/replacement cost estimates, and related documentation.
• Help the sales team up-sell or cross-sell services and products.
• Interface regularly with our dealers to develop and ensure client satisfaction and build strong relationships.
• Travel to and from dealerships and homes to inspect, write condition reports, and list vehicles to sell on the auction platform.
• Take multiple overall and damage photos, match them to a vehicle, and download them to the image server utilizing the company-issued smartphone.
• List inspected wholesale vehicles utilizing ACV Auctions platform for bidding and purchasing.
• Sign up independent dealerships as buyers to utilize ACV Auctions digital platform.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
