Job summary

Office of the Illinois Secretary of State in Springfield, IL seeks a Motor Vehicle Regulations Technician I to perform paraprofessional work reviewing files and documents to determine status of driving privileges and vehicle registration actions.

The role analyzes licenses and IDs, provides routine technical information by phone, and initiates corrected document processes while upholding Central Issuance procedures.

Qualifications

• Requires completion of high school and one year clerical experience dealing with laws, rules or regulations in a public or private organization.
• Experience in public or private organization.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes and reviews driver’s license/ID applications and/or exception reports to determine error and whether the card can be issued.
• Provides routine technical information by phone to customers and facilities regarding record correction and/or direction when processing applicants.
• Authorizes cancellations to applicants for non-compliance and clears cancellations when corrected.
• Initiates correspondence to applicants to return for issuance of corrected license/ID.
• Works independently and with a team to ensure Central Issuance program rules are applied consistently.
• Researches and processes refund requests from Accounting Revenue or when the applicant requests a refund.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned.
