Job summary

Yoh Services LLC in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking a hands-on Vehicle Competence Engineer to support platform bring-up, electrical diagnostics, and development vehicle testing. You will perform electrical measurements, troubleshoot wiring, ECUs, sensors, and power distribution, and work with hardware, software, and vehicle teams to isolate root causes.

Experience with oscilloscopes, DMMs, CAN, and Automotive Ethernet is required; Python/automation interest is a plus.

Qualifications

• 3+ years hands-on automotive electrical and diagnostic experience.
• Strong measurement skills with oscilloscopes and current probes.
• Experience diagnosing wiring harnesses, ECUs, sensors, and networks.
• Familiarity with CAN and Automotive Ethernet.
• Able to inspect wiring, grounds, and power distribution to isolate faults.
• Hands-on with prototype or development vehicles bring-up.

Vehicle Competence Engineer Development Vehicles / Platform Bring-Up / Electrical Diagnostics Overview

Seeking a hands-on Electrical Engineer to support platform bring-up and troubleshooting of prototype and development vehicles. The primary focus is electrical measurement, vehicle hardware diagnostics, and resolving issues involving wiring, ECUs, sensors, power distribution, and communication networks.

This is primarily an electrical troubleshooting role rather than a software development position. The ideal candidate has strong fundamentals in electrical engineering and measurement equipment, enjoys hands-on vehicle work, and is interested in expanding into software and automation over time.

Key Responsibilities

• Support development vehicle and platform bring-up by diagnosing electrical, hardware, and communication issues.
• Troubleshoot wiring harnesses, connectors, grounds, power distribution, ECUs, sensors, open/short circuits, voltage drops, intermittent faults, and abnormal current draw.
• Perform hands-on measurements using oscilloscopes, multimeters, current probes/clamps, breakout boxes, and related electrical test equipment.
• Read wiring diagrams, schematics, connector pinouts, and network topologies to isolate failures and determine root cause.
• Diagnose CAN, LIN, FlexRay, and Automotive Ethernet issues using Vector CANoe, CANalyzer, CANape, or comparable automotive diagnostic tools.
• Document findings, support repair verification, and collaborate with hardware, software, prototype, and vehicle engineering teams to resolve development issues.

Required Qualifications

• Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, or similar technical background.
• 3+ years of hands-on automotive electrical, prototype vehicle, platform bring-up, validation, or diagnostic experience.
• Strong experience with oscilloscopes, multimeters, current measurement, electrical troubleshooting, and laboratory/vehicle measurement equipment.
• Experience diagnosing wiring harnesses, connectors, power/ground, ECUs, sensors, and vehicle electrical systems.
• Understanding of CAN and Automotive Ethernet and familiarity with vehicle communication/diagnostic tools.
• Strong troubleshooting mentality with the ability to independently investigate and isolate complex electrical problems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with prototype or development vehicle bring-up, ADAS, autonomous vehicles, or automotive validation.
• Familiarity with radar, LiDAR, cameras, GNSS, data loggers, 12V/48V systems, ECU flashing, or vehicle commissioning.
• Interest in developing additional skills in Python, scripting, software diagnostics, and test automation.
