Job summary

Yoh Services LLC in Dearborn, MI is seeking a Prototype Vehicle Technician to support engineering development and testing. You will perform R&R on test vehicles, install/modify systems, read wiring diagrams, and use Linux for setup and diagnostics, while documenting changes and maintaining a safe workspace.

This role requires hands-on automotive prototyping experience, strong communication, and the ability to work independently with engineers in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.

Qualifications

• Degree or certification in automotive technology.
• 2+ years automotive technician experience.
• 2+ years factory launching new products.

Responsibilities

• Perform vehicle component removal and replacement to support development.
• Install and modify mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems according to engineering instructions.
• Read wiring diagrams, harness schematics, connector pinouts, and procedures.
• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and garage machinery.
• Document completed work, configuration changes and identified issues.
• Track work using Jira/Atlassian tools and report findings to engineers.

Job description

Prototype Vehicle Technician

The Prototype Vehicle Technician supports engineering development and testing by maintaining, upgrading, and modifying test vehicles. This role performs component removal and replacement, interprets wiring and harness diagrams, follows engineering instructions, and uses Linux and basic shell scripts to support vehicle setup and troubleshooting.

What you’ll be able to do:

• Perform vehicle component removal and replacement (R&R) to support engineering development and testing.
• Install and modify mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems according to engineering instructions.
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, harness schematics, connector pinouts, and technical procedures.
• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and garage machinery.
• Assist with basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, reporting findings to engineers.
• Use Linux systems and run basic shell scripts for vehicle setup and diagnostics.
• Document completed work, configuration changes, and identified issues.
• Maintain an organized, safe workspace and comply with all garage procedures.
• Adapt to changing priorities while working independently and collaborating with engineering teams.
• Ability to track work through Jira and other Atlassian tools.
• Maintain a strong understanding of electrical principles and automotive standards.

Minimum requirements:

(one or more of the following)

• Degree or Certification in Automotive Technology
• 2+ years of experience as an Automotive Technician
• 2+ year of experience in a factory setting launching new products

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience building and launching automotive products and vehicle prototyping
• Experience with Microsoft Office, Confluence, and Jira applications
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• An eagerness to work in a fast paced cross-functional environment
• Understanding of high voltage safety practices and demonstrated capability to work in a high voltage environment
• Ability to travel and work flexible hours as needed to support road trips, test facilities, and proving ground activities.

Estimated Min Rate: $26.00

Estimated Max Rate: $29.00
