Job summary

Cox is seeking a detail-oriented Vehicle Prep Associate to input accurate vehicle information into the AS400 system using a handheld TC-75 device, affix stock stickers, and manage work orders for incoming inventory.

The role emphasizes safety, proper data removal from vehicles, basic maintenance support, and assisting transporters during auction days; schedule includes Sunday-Wednesday shifts with competitive hourly pay in the US.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED completed.
  • Generally less than 2 years of related experience.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.
  • Basic computer skills required for data entry.
  • Must be able to stand/walk, reach, talk and hear; lift 1–15 lb.
  • Vision includes close, distance, color perception and depth.

Responsibilities

  • Input accurate vehicle information into the AS400 system using a handheld TC-75, including VIN, stock number, dealer ID, make, model, year, mileage, color and options.
  • Affix barcode/stock number stickers to each vehicle on arrival.
  • Apply work order numbers and routing labels to vehicles.
  • Identify and flag 'no key' vehicles and direct transporters to drop zones.
  • Inspect and report transport damage as required and ensure proper sale identification windshield codes.
  • Provide data protection by removing personal information and resetting navigation data from vehicles.
  • Assist with basic fit tunnel maintenance, keep area clean, report issues, and support routine upkeep.
  • Support safety initiatives and assist with additional operational duties, including driving vehicles through auction lanes on sale days.

Key Responsibilities
  • Input accurate vehicle information into the AS400 system using a handheld device (TC-75), including:
    • VIN (Vehicle Identification Number)
    • Stock number
    • Dealer ID
    • Make, model, year, mileage, color, options
  • Affix barcode/stock number stickers to each vehicle upon arrival
  • Apply work order numbers and routing labels to vehicles
  • Identify and flag "no key" vehicles
  • Direct transporters to designated vehicle drop zones
  • Inspect and report transport damage as required
  • Provide proper sale identification windshield codes
Data Protection & Vehicle Preparation
  • Remove and clear all personal information from vehicles, including documents, saved contacts, and identifiable items
  • Reset or remove navigation system data (addresses, history, Bluetooth pairings, etc.)
    Facility & Equipment Support
    • Perform basic fit tunnel maintenance, including:
      • Keeping the area clean and organized
      • Reporting equipment issues or malfunctions
      • Assisting with routine upkeep to ensure operational efficiency
    Safety & Team Support
    • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety by following all safety procedures and guidelines
    • Support Safety Excellence initiatives and work with leadership on safety activities
    • Assist with additional operational duties as assigned, including:
    • Driving vehicles through auction lanes on sale days
    Qualifications:

    Schedule:
    • SCHEDULE SUNDAY-WEDNESDAY 12:00 PM-10:00PM
    Preferred Qualifications
    • 1-3 years of auction or vehicle registration experience
    • Ability to drive both manual and automatic transmission vehicles
    Physical Requirements
    • Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk, and hear
    • Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat, and climb

    USD 16.63 - 24.90 per hour

    Compensation:

    Hourly pay rate is in the range of $16.63 - $24.90/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.

    Benefits:

    Employees are eligible to receive a minimum of sixteen hours of paid time off every month and seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
