Job summary

Applied Research Solutions is seeking a Desktop Administrator (Windows/Linux) to provide frontline support for cloud services, hosted apps, and VDI in a government environment. You will handle Tier 1 and 2 issues, manage VDI images, and coordinate with DevOps and Platforms teams.

This role requires US citizenship and an active TS/SCI clearance. Experience with Jira, Confluence, GitLab, Salt, and Azure is preferred, along with strong customer service and documentation skills.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship with active TS/SCI clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related technical field.
• AZ-104 certification.
• 3+ years of professional IT/help desk/technical support experience.
• Active TS/SCI clearance (Required).
• Experience administering Jira, Confluence and GitLab.
• VDI experience with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure; Azure Virtual Desktop preferred.
• Experience with Salt, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
• Strong Windows and Linux troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent customer service and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Serve as first point of contact for end-user technical support on cloud services, hosted apps, and VDI.
• Create, update, and maintain support tickets in Jira with accurate documentation and SLA adherence.
• Escalate complex issues to Tier 2/3, coordinating with DevOps and Platform Engineers.
• Manage VDI technologies, including UVMs, base images, and patching.
• Build, package, deploy, and manage Salt States for applications in VMs and across the VDI environment.
• Monitor performance, identify patterns, and communicate during planned outages.
• Maintain knowledge base articles and contribute to procedures and troubleshooting guides.
• Collaborate with cloud providers for Tier 1/2 support issues.
• Other duties as assigned.
