Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology is seeking a VDI Engineer to architect, implement, and optimize virtual desktop infrastructure for our enterprise clients. You will provide Tier 3 support, guide desktop optimization, and work across cross‑functional teams to ensure reliable, scalable VDI solutions.

The role requires a strong Citrix background, PVS/MCS expertise, and proficiency with PowerShell for automation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of relevant experience.
• Extensive experience designing, implementing, administering, and troubleshooting Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops 7.x+.
• Strong proficiency with PVS and MCS.
• Experience with user profile management and containerization (ProfileUnity, FSLogix).
• Experience with Citrix ADC (NetScaler) including load balancing and SSL.
• Experience with VMware vSphere, Hyper‑V, Nutanix, XenServer.
• Strong Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and network concepts.
• VDI performance tuning, capacity planning, monitoring, troubleshooting at scale.
• PowerShell scripting and automation for Citrix administration.
• Ability to analyze complex issues and communicate with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, implement, and maintain VDI solutions to meet enterprise needs.
• Provide Tier 3 support to system admins for complex VDI issues.
• Advise on desktop optimization for interoperability and serve as a VDI liaison.
• Deliver advanced endpoint support and resolve virtual desktop incidents.
• Maintain expert knowledge of VDI administration and emerging virtualization tech.
• Collaborate across production environments with diverse stakeholders.
• Apply technical expertise to support enterprise infrastructure initiatives.
• Conduct evaluations and trade studies for architecture and make/buy decisions.
