Job summary

Manhattan Construction Company in Atlanta is seeking a Senior VDC Manager to oversee the use of VDC technologies across one or multiple projects, ensuring contractual requirements are met and productivity is maximized.

You will mentor on-site, regional, and corporate staff, apply business acumen, and lead with strong communication and client service to advance project goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in CM/Architecture/Engineering or equivalent.
  • 15 years of industry experience.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and assist preconstruction when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform constructability reviews and advise on means, methods, logistics, and staffing.
  • Lead preconstruction BIM/VDC efforts with Owner/Architect.
  • Establish relationships with project stakeholders.
  • Assign project team responsibilities and ensure contract compliance.
  • Develop communications to resolve conflicts among participants.
  • Support management in recruiting, training, and mentoring staff.
  • Manage VDC software agreements and renewals.
  • Prepare monthly VDC information for Project Status Reports.
  • Monitor progress and hold subcontractor status meetings.
  • Provide notices and corrective actions for performance/quality issues.

POSITIONSUMMARY:

The Senior VDC Manager is responsible foremanning the usage of VDC technologies for a given project or multipleprojects, including the completion of any contractual requirements andutilizing the technology to maximize productivity and risk mitigation. Responsible for directing and mentoring on-site, regional, and corporate staff. The position requires business management acumen and must demonstrate strongleadership, organization, and time management skills, as well as strongcommunication and client service skills.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform constructability reviews and work with Estimators on alternate construction means and methods, site logistics, general requirements, hoisting systems, and staffing requirements.
  • Participate in preconstruction meetings with the Owner / Architectfor the BIM and VDC efforts on a project.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with allproject stakeholders.
  • Assign project team responsibilities. Establish administrativeprocedures, develop performance goals, and follow up to ensure compliancewith all contract requirements.
  • Development of effective communications and mechanisms forresolving conflicts among various project participants
  • Support Division Management in recruiting, training, and mentoringnew employees.
  • Ensure compliance with all standard company processes andutilization of technology.
  • Manage the software agreements and renewals for everything neededin the VDC department.
  • Prepare the VDC information within the monthly Project StatusReports. Identify and manage risk and opportunities proactively anddevelop mitigation and captures strategies.
  • Monitor the progress of construction activities on a regular basisand hold status meetings with subcontractors.
  • Manages Subcontractor performance. Provide notices and takecorrective actions for any performance or quality issues.
  • Assist the company in marketing and business development effortsand advise management of potential project opportunities.
  • Attend interviews with clients for prospective projects, as needed,in your surrounding region(s).
  • Prepare detailed cost breakdown for VDC for each project to beinput into the historical cost database.
  • Sit in on interviews for all earlier positions in the VDCpath.
  • Provide check-ins and yearly evaluations for VDC members on yourteam.
  • Duties as listed in the VDC Manager description.
  • Responsible for conducting themselves in accordance with ourGuiding Principles and exhibiting attributes matching the Way We Work.
  • Other duties as assigned.
JOBSKILLS & ABILITIES GUIDELINES:
  • Computer knowledge and efficiency, including AutodeskSuite, Bluebeam, Revizto, Tekla, and Microsoft Office.
  • Proven experience of Manhattan document control andschedule software.
  • Thorough understanding of industry and localmarket.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s Degree- Construction Management, Architecture,Engineering or equivalent

WORKINGCONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORTS:
  • Ability to physically stand, bend, sit for long periods, and squat throughout the day.
  • Ability to repeat the same movements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to participate fully in meetings, video conferences, and phone calls.
  • Use hands to type, handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or control.
  • Occasionally lift, pull, or move up to 25 lbs.
  • Occasional travel will be required, primarily in the metropolitan area but sometimes domestically (must have a valid Driver’s License).
